We went from
804 to 816 Residents this week!
Calendar of Events is
listed below
the Minutes for your
convenience.
Special Guest:
Rick
Spielman, our Texas Division Manager, visited with us this morning. He wanted us to know that he listens to what
we have to say. He won’t always be able
to do what we want when we want it, but that we can be assured that at Wilder
Resort Parks we are no longer going backward but forward. This statement elicited cheers from the
meeting group.
He
also said that Mr. Wilder didn’t visit the parks the last couple of years and
wasn’t informed as he should have been about the current condition of the
roads. He is now informed and they now
have a plan for a three year program to get all the roads fixed in the Wilder
Parks. They will first be concentrating
on the worst road – those where the roadbed is disappearing. They have gone through all the parks and are
now making up a plan on which roads in which parks will be fixed first. They may also do some pothole fixing with
some seal coat in some places. He told
us that we can look forward to seeing those changes when we return next season.
They
are also working on getting WiFi into all the Wilder Parks and there is a
proposal to get that done on Mr. Wilder’s desk.
There may be some tweaking to the proposal, Mr
Spielman won’t tell us that this is going to happen next year until Mr.
Wilder approves it but hopefully they will have an answer soon.
He
also said that there will be some changes around the park due to Insurance
regulations. For instance, we won’t have
gates wired open. They will be replacing
latches on them so that they work well.
The changes that insurance requires really need to be put in place
because if we lost insurance on one park, we would lose it at all the parks and
it would be a disaster.
Thank you!
Cathy
gave a big thank you to Gail Fields for acting as our Tour Director for the
past three years. Gail is retiring but
will still live at Trophy Gardens.
Important Information:
Mailing Labels: As
you are getting ready to return North, please make sure you leave labels for
the Mail Room to forward your mail. They
cannot use the really small labels. You
must have labels that will cover the address on the envelope. If you need mailing labels, you can order
them in the Business Office from the Computer Group. There is a small charge for the service.
Leaving the Park: Remember
when you get ready to head North, you need to have all your stuff put away and
battened down. We do experience hurricane
winds once in awhile and your grills, bicycles, plant and pots should all be
secured. If they are not secured they
can fly off and damage other property in the park or hurt someone.
Site Switching: On Monday,
March 9th, the site switching process will begin. If you need more
information on how this works, stop and see Cathy in the Business Office.
Monday
the 9th, those who want a site for a permanent RV on the 6+
plans
Tuesday,
the 10th – RV’s staying 6 months
Wednesday,
the 11th – RV’s staying 5 months
Thursday,
the 12th – RV’s staying 4 months
Friday,
the 13th – RV’s staying 3 months
Saturday,
the 14th – Sites are open to the public.
Your Vehicles: Cathy says
we are having a REAL problem this year with people parking their vehicles on
other sites. This year people coming in
have had to wait until someone showed up to move their car before new people
could get on their site. This has
happened more than once. If you do not
have space on your lot for your vehicles, please stop in the office and see
Cathy. There may be a way to rectify the
problem but the office needs to know where your vehicle is and putting it on
any lot that is close to yours is not an option. Next season she is going to watch this very
carefully.
Suggestion
Box: A new Suggestion Box
has been placed in front of the Activity Room which is a lock box that will be
opened only by the Wilder Division Manager, Rick Spielman. These
suggestions are not relative to the Activities Department but are
recommendations for Wilder Corporation on the general operation and condition
of the park. If you offer any suggestions and fill out the card with
your name and Lot No., you will be eligible to win a $25 gift certificate
toward a dinner. This is a way for you to get your comments directly to
The Wilder Corporation without going through the Business Office so take
advantage of this opportunity. We are running out of cards for the box
but more are on the way.
Picture
Directories: The directories
are now available. Pick yours up in the Activities Office. There are still 35
people who have not picked theirs up. There are also some extra
directories if you need another one. They are $10 per book. I'm holding off selling these until I get a count of how many I need for people who had their pictures taken and get a free one. Once I have that count, I'll begin selling the picture directories again.
Variety
Show DVD: Sign up with Lee Clement or Paula Sheridan for a DVD
of the show. It will cost $2. Thank you to Sharon Graham for
donating the use of a DVD burner for this purpose.
Golden
Olympics – Marsha Fabricius said
we are nearly finished with the Golden Olympics. She would like all those that participated
in the parade to wear their shirts and medals if they won one to the Wednesday
meeting on March 18th. We’ll
take some pictures at that time.
The bus for the Walk and Talk will
leave for Town Lake at
Fireman’s Park in McAllen at 9:30 AM.
