Wednesday, March 26th Morning News

Today is the last of the Meeting Minutes for the 2013-14 Season at Winter Ranch. We will head back north starting next Wednesday.  Lee and I hope all of you had as good a season as we did.  God be with all of you and we wish you safe travels and warm weather back home.
                                                             Mary and Lee Benfield

We went from 705 to 559 this week
Have a Safe Trip Home!
GO BEES!!!
IMPORTANT NEWS:

Ladies Luncheon:  Marsha Bender is still looking for a Ladies Luncheon Chair and Co-Chair for next season.  If a couple of people do not step up to the plate, we will not have the Ladies Luncheons next season and we’d hate to see that happen!  Please see Marsha Bender at Lot No. 592.

Picture Directories:  There have been questions on when residents would receive their picture directories.  These will be available when you return next season probably sometime in October or November or whenever you arrive.  You’ll have them when you get here next year.
Before you leave for the season:
      1)   Make sure you have mail forwarding labels for the Mail Room.   You can bring us your own or you can let the Business Office know that you need some labels.  The Computer Group will do them for you for a slight fee (30 labels for $3).

      2) Make sure you put away all the stuff at your site.  Don’t leave anything out that could blow away in high winds or float away in heavy rains.  Remember we do experience hurricane winds during the time that you are away.  Even if you think something is too heavy to have to be put away, put it away!!   Remember that flower pots can float or fly down the street in bad weather.

      3)  If you have staples that you don’t want to take home with you, you can donate them to ARISE.  Please make sure the food hasn’t expired yet.  Canned goods and other food staples (non-refrigerated items) can be dropped off in the box in the Small Hall by the back door to the Business Office.
    Thank Yous:

Cathy thanked all of the residents for a wonderful season.  She felt like the park re-energized.  She also thanked us for being such a charitable bunch.  She and Lynn gave us a run down on just some of the ways we have helped out in the valley and reminded us just what a difference one park can make down here.
    Our Quilters contributed the following:
45 quilts to the 1st Responders
24 quilts to the Alamo Fire/Police Department
1 large quilt for the The Easter Seals Telethon
57 cloth diapers to Easter Seals in McAllen
    171 quilts to Easter Seals
34 quilts to the McAllen Hospital Neonatal Unit
       4 burp cloths
15 quilts to the Ronal McDonald House
9 quilts to the Christian Ministries Christmas Project
3 quilts to the RGV Soldier Project
They also made other items including sachets, sewing kits, scrap bags, casserole carriers and table runners.  The Quilters made a total of 336 quilts.
The Crochet and Knitters Group also contributed.
    175 afgans

556 miscellaenous hats, military scarves, Special Olympics
            scarves and headbands

The Christmas Stocking Project  contributed 300 stockings to the children in the ARISE neighborhood for the annual Christmas Posada.
Furniture and other miscellaneous items were taken to    ARISE by Dale Loerch and he kept a tally:
     11   bikes
     24  sofas
     28  recliners
     19   beds
       1   table and chairs
       1   refrigerator
       1   dryer
       4  microwaves
and many household items were taken to ARISE.

The above are just some of the way the people of this park contributes to the health and welfare of this community.  The impact of one park in the valley is huge!!

    Congratulations:

A Hole In One:  Dick DeGaramo made a hole in one on Hole 7 using a 8 iron on March 15th.  Congrats, Dick!  There have been six holes in one this season!

Karaoke will be going on through the month of March.

The last Friday Mixed Golf Scramble will be this week.

The Monday Mixed Golf Scrambles started on Monday at 9 AM.

Volunteers or Donations Needed:

Ladies Luncheon: Lynn reminded us that we still need a Chair and Co-Chair for the Ladies Luncheons next year.  Please contact Marsha Bender if you are interested.  If a couple of people do not step up to the plate, we will not have the Ladies Luncheons next season and we’d hate to see that happen!

Lynn and JD are looking for a Coordinator for the Peter Piper Luncheons for next season.  Contact them in the Activities Office.

Lynn is looking for a caller for Dairy Queen Bingo for next season.  Next season the DQ would like to change the time to Mondays from 2 to 3 PM.  If we get a caller, we’ll get it going again!
JD needs some residents to step forward and make up one more kitchen jam crew.  He has two crews going and he is planning on cooking in the kitchen once a month.  He would like to put together one more crew that would do the jam once a month.

Remember, volunteering is a great way to get to know the other residents of the park!
